I recently spent a few days in San Francisco, attending The Product Lounge, an event co-hosted by Product School and Merge Software. I was inspired and educated by the wisdom shared by some of the most notable and influential Product leaders. Meanwhile, the city was lit up with the energy of Dreamforce and all the new, exciting products launching at the conference. The vibrant atmosphere of innovation and excitement in the air seemed to mirror the boundless potential of generative AI—both promising to reshape our world in ways we’re only beginning to imagine.

The Generative AI Paradox

Among the many enlightening discussions, one realization stood out: while everyone is abuzz about generative AI, surprisingly few are incorporating it into their workflows in a repeatable, operational, and scalable manner. This includes those who are actively building AI into their products and promoting its benefits.

Don’t get me wrong; a number of people are experimenting with generative AI, mainly through tools like ChatGPT. But we’re talking experiments here—not structured, ingrained processes.

Generative AI: More Than Just a Shiny New Object

This is a significant missed opportunity. Generative AI is not just another shiny new object; it’s a groundbreaking tool that has the potential to vastly improve our professional lives. Imagine having the ultimate cheat sheet or an accelerator for knowledge that can enhance everything we do. Think of it as an assistant that handles mundane tasks, giving us the freedom to focus on areas where we can make the most impact—the areas that truly engage us.

And let’s be real: generative AI is here to stay.
